Tree
agate is a variety of chalcedony. The bands of colour in it often look a bit similar to tree trunks, hence its name. The name
agate comes from the Greek name for a stone, which was originally discovered in the Achates
River in Sicily. It's sometimes confused
with moss agate, but the background colour of moss agate is usually clearer than tree agate.
Metaphysical
Properties:
This
type of agate, with its tree-like patterns, evokes a feeling of the natural world. Some people find it a useful tool for connecting
with the energy of the plant kingdom, as well as on a more spiritual level. It's soothing and peaceful and can be used when
trying to regain balance in your life.
Agate
has been widely used throughout history. The Egyptians used it to make talismans and it has been found amongst the remains
of Stone Age communities in France.
